Our Story

Phoebe Sung Peter Buer

Cold Picnic was formed in 2010 by partners Phoebe Sung and Peter Buer as a loose and ongoing series of art projects worked on at home. Their work soon evolved into a line of textiles and home goods which can be found around the world and has been featured in publications such as the New York Times, Architectural Digest, and New York Magazine.

Deeply influenced by nature, film, art and mythology, Cold Picnic seeks to create tactile landscapes built through playful exploration and nostalgia.

Sung and Buer still design all Cold Picnic pieces from home and they work with artisans in India to produce their handmade rugs, quilts, and bathmats, and a family owned company in New Jersey to make their knit blankets.
