Q: When will my order ship?

A: Orders are processed and shipped Monday-Friday. Please allow 1-3 business days for the warehouse to process your order. Please visit the Shipping tab on our Help page for more information.

Q: Do you offer expedited shipping?

A: We do not offer expedited shipping.

Q: Do you offer signature shipping?

A: Yes, we do offer signature required delivery options for orders over $100. Please email us at info@coldpicnic.com before placing your order to make arrangements.

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: We do ship internationally. Shipping costs, taxes and duties will be automatically calculated during the checkout process. Rates vary per country.

Q: Why is international shipping so expensive?

A: All our shipping costs are determined by shipping zone, as well as volumetric and actual weight. Additionally, we now include import taxes and duties alongside our shipping costs. These fees are typically collected by the shipping carrier upon or after delivery and may include import taxes from the country of destination, carrier fees (from Fedex or UPS), and VAT fees. Because these fees fluctuate based on the shipping carriers and destination country (and have increased significantly since Covid), there is no way for us to provide estimates. As a result, many customers are surprised when they are expected to pay for them later. By collecting and paying them on your behalf, we help ensure that your package clears customs more quickly and with less potential issues, and that you are aware of the full cost of purchasing the item prior to purchase. During checkout, the Shipping cost will show a combined total of the cost to ship your item to you, in addition to any associated import charges.

Q: I live in New York City. Is local pick up an option?

A: Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate local pick-up.  Our distribution center is located in Virginia.

Q: How do I clean my rug?

A: The best way to keep the rugs clean is regular vacuuming, as even dust particles can stain the rug over time. Before you begin area-specific cleaning please visit our Care Per Product page, where you will find detailed advice on maintaining the condition of each type of rug.

If you feel in need of a deeper allover clean, we recommend giving your carpet a shampoo. You can rent industrial machines from hardware stores, or purchase smaller units like the Bissel little green machine - whichever option makes more sense for you.

Q: Can your hand-tufted and flatweave rugs be used in the bathroom?

A: While we have seen our hand-tufted and flatweave rugs used in some bathrooms, we don’t necessarily recommend them as bathroom rugs. Among other reasons they may not be ideal for this setting, the hand tufted rugs have a thick backing, which make them difficult to hang, and the wool flatweave rugs are not especially absorbent.

Q: Should I use a rug pad with my rug?

A: Yes we recommend using rug pads with our rugs. While we don't have a recommended model or brand, in our experience the thin rubber rug pads keep the rugs from slipping the most and also help to eliminate any wrinkles from storage and/or shipping.

Q: My rug is lumpy, is that normal?

A: It is definitely normal for rugs to get lumps and bumps during storage and shipment. This is especially the case with larger sizes due to their weight. They will absolutely come out with time but to speed up the proceed we recommend the following:

  1. Use a silicon or rubber rug pad
  2. Back roll the carpet. To do so, unroll the carpet and then roll it again, this time in the opposite direction. Let the rolled carpet sit for a day or two and then unroll again
  3. Place a flat-bottomed piece of furniture or heavy books on the creases for a few days to flatten them out using weight.
