Dario Argento’s 1975 Profondo Rosso is an operatic thriller that frequently wanders into moments of disarming humanity. The gift of the giallo, a mid century Italian genre of exuberantly stylish - and gruesome - films, was in conjuring glamour from pulp.
Our Profondo Rosso was brought to life from the remains of our holiday excesses.
In the early days of the new year, after the fever quiets down, we cut and tear away scraps from inside our waste bins to make collages. Most are given as cards throughout the year, but six of the compositions fit together like a puzzle. Or a giallo.
Porcelain with carved outlines in black, pale ice blue, rosso, and vanilla.
