Audience / Embrace
The Audience / Embrace collection is a testament to our continued exploration of the roles a home plays in our lives and the anthropomorphic qualities we often attribute to our living spaces.
Featuring five new rugs and runner designs that include patterns inspired by arms and eyes, the name "Audience / Embrace" alludes to the fundamental roles a home embodies for its occupants - both as a witness to the most intimate moments of our lives, symbolized by "Audience," and as a retreat for rest and comfort, symbolized by "Embrace."
A mix of folklore, literature, and cinema inspired the eye (“Audience”) and arm (“Embrace”) motifs that outline each rug’s border. Folk stories and literature about Baba Yaga and haunted houses, contemporary children’s literature like Daniel Pinkwater’s Big Orange Splotch, and films such as Hayao Miyazaki’s Howl’s Moving Castle and Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining are just a few references that came together in the designs in this collection. Like these sources of inspiration, the rugs in this collection reflect a desire for homes to feel nurturing - and alive.
