Two Hour Drive
In the warmest months we frequently fled our comfortable apartment for the homes of strangers, with lumpy beds and empty refrigerators. On the way up we’d speed pass increasingly rural landscapes, knowing that soon we would swim in a lake or walk up a mountain or eat barbecue sandwiches under a tree. Some of those days we enjoyed more than a dozen hours of sunlight.
As it grew colder and our trips became less frequent, the scenes out the window changed, but were in many ways lovelier. No longer hazy and gentle, they were now keen and a little melancholy. We hope the Two Hour Drive rugs can serve as a reminder of the spooky charm of the coldest months. And that having fun in the summer is easy, but in the winter it requires some grit.
