Hide / 2020
The follow up collection to our Hide rug series of cruelty-free animal skin flat weave rugs. We’re back with a Polar Bear, an Elephant, a Fawn and a Giraffe, housed in a new set of edible dioramas designed and assembled in collaboration with our food stylist friend Diana Yen. Diana made all the food in the dioramas (which, aside from the mini rugs, is pretty much all there is) but we each took part in eating the scenes after dismembering them. Like all the food Diana makes, they were delicious, and made doubly so by the fact that there is nothing quite as satisfying as destroying something you’ve worked hard on.
Fawn
The sweetest room for the sweetest creature in our menagerie. We wanted to reimagine the iconic and hypermasculine hunting lodge for a softer inhabitant armed only with a sweet tooth - stone slab floors built of terrazzo chocolate bark and tiled with icing, white chocolate wood paneled walls, chocolate molded animal heads adorning the walls, faux wood grain cookies, and the most plush brioche bun sofa. The one salty touch - a himalayan pink rock salt fireplace.
Polar Bear
A cozy ice cave bedroom inhabited by a gentle gardener. At night he sips flower tea on his fairy-lit ice bed and by day he tends his ice garden.
Elephant
Moonrise Kingdom meets Out of Africa (meets Big Night). A pasta camping ground (complete with plaid pasta sling chair and ravioli pillows) laid out on graham cracker turf under a fresh pasta tent.
Giraffe
An abandoned topiary maze of matcha cake hedges and broccoli shrubs, watched over by panko-coated candy animal sentinels.
